Abstract
Objectives: The objective of this study is to identify the factors to influence the unmet healthcare needs in Korean elderly according to gender.

Methods: This study used data from the Korea Health Panel Survey of 2017(KHP 2017) of the Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs and the National Health Insurance Service. The data used were analyzed using the SPSS Ver. 27.0 program.

Results: 8.6% of male elderly and 12.4% of female elderly were found to have experienced unmet healthcare needs. For male elderly, the probability of experiencing unmet healthcare needs was higher in having problem by drinking(AOR=2.861), the higher level of stress(AOR=2.019), not having own house (AOR=1.986), the worse self-rated health(AOR=1.498). The probability lower in the 4th income quintile(AOR=0.377), the 2nd income quintile(AOR=0.382) than the 1st income quintile. For female elderly, the probability of experiencing unmet healthcare needs was higher in the higher level of stress(AOR=1.902), not having spouse(AOR=1.769), doing economic activity(AOR=1.460), the worse self-rated health(AOR=1.262). The probability lower in the higher life satisfaction(AOR=0.129), the 5th income quintile(AOR=0.577), the 3rd income quintile(AOR=0.599), the 2nd income quintile(AOR=0.603) than the 1st income quintile.

Conclusions: Factors influencing Korean elderly¡¯ unmet healthcare needs differed between male and female, so differentiated intervention and mediation are needed.
